The Province of Aquila
Aquila is one of the five provinces of Abruzzo, the only one with no seashore. But this doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have plenty of tourist attractions, especially because it houses the city of L’Aquila, with a great artistic importance. You can visit the San Bernando Cathedral or the Saint Mary Cathedral, the Forte Spagnolo or the Castello, the magnificent local castle or the interesting and unique fountain with 99 spouts, each one with a different stone mask.
In L’Aquila you can also discover the main historical, artistic and religious attractions of the city with the help of the Celestine Pardon that provides many routes to those interested. Sadly there was a strong earthquake in the city in the year 2009, which made serious demages in the city and the area destroying parts of the artistic heritage.

The Province of Pescara
Besides the beautiful seashore, the beach city of Pescara also has to offer some tourist attractions for those who are in search for artistic treasures. The city keeps the memory of Gavriele D’Annuzio, an important poet of his time.
The Province of Pescara lies near the Province of L’Aquila practically occupying the seashore. It has many popular beach resorts like San Salvo, Vasto, Ortona, Tortoreto, Roseto, Silvi Marina and Giulianova.
The Province of Chieti
The most important settlement of the province is the city of Chieti, lying on a seaside hill. Regarding tourist attractions, the city is famous for its prehistoric findings, the National Archeological Museum, and a charming cathedral from the 11th century.
The Province of Teramo
The city of Teramo has many tourist sites that worth visiting, for example some Roman archeological findings and a cathedral from medieval times. If you are interested in traditional country lifestyle, there are many old borgoes that can be seen troughout the whole region.
